Consumers must pay tax on Internet orders if the company from which you are buying does business in your state. Your purchase of a SodaStream Sparkling Water Maker includes a SodaStream carbonator, which is supplied by SodaStream against payment of a "User License." The carbonator remains the property of SodaStream at all times in accordance with the terms and conditions stated in the User License Certificate. Because SodaStream retains ownership of the carbonator, technically SodaStream does business in every state. When you shop at sodastreamusa.com, or place an order through 1-800-763-2258, you are assessed the normal rate of sales tax for your state.

Do I need a special water system in order to use a SodaStream Sparkling Water Maker?

No. You may use any type of water that you typically drink at home. However, we do recommend using COLD water to achieve best results.

How do I clean my Sparkling Water Maker?

The Sparkling Water Maker should be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth in lukewarm water using a non-abrasive cleanser if necessary. Be sure to remove the carbonator before cleaning.

Can I carbonate drinks other than water?

No. Only water should be carbonated in the SodaStream Sparkling Water Maker. You risk damaging your Sparkling Water Maker, not to mention making a big fizzy mess! The money-back guarantee and the warranty are both invalidated if you carbonate any liquid other than water in your Sparkling Water Maker. Stick with plain, cold water and adding any one of our fantastic flavors - AFTER the water has been carbonated!

Can I re-fizz a drink that has gone flat?

If you're drinking plain sparkling water, the answer is yes as long as the water reaches the water fill line on the carbonating bottle. However, if you already prepared a drink with flavor, the answer is no. Since only water can be carbonated in the Sparkling Water Maker, you cannot re-carbonate once you've added flavor.

Can I add anything other than Sparkling Drink Mix?

Yes! Our Sparkling Drink Mixes have been specifically formulated to flavor sparkling water made with your SodaStream Sparkling Water Maker, but we also recommend adding fresh fruit, juice, herbs and anything else that will make delicious and refreshing sparkling water.

How can I tell if there is enough fizz in my water?

"Enough" is a very subjective term! One of the great benefits of using a SodaStream Sparkling Water Maker is that you control the level of fizz in your sparkling drinks. In general, you should press the carbonating button several times until you hear the LOUD BUZZ that indicates carbonation. Keep going until you achieve the level of fizz that you like! Three LOUD BUZZES provide average carbonation. Use one buzz for very light carbonation (good for fruit flavors) or five buzzes for strong carbonation (works well for colas and other dark flavors.)

I'm missing the instruction manual. Help!

What is the difference between seltzer, sparkling water, club soda and tonic?

Seltzer and Sparkling Water is plain water with added carbonation to make the water bubbly. This can be made easily with a SodaStream Sparkling Water Maker. Tonic can also be easily made with a SodaStream Sparkling Water Maker by carbonating plain tap water, and then adding Tonic Soda Mix to the Sparkling Water. Club Soda is very similar to seltzer or sparkling water, but additional ingredients are added to create a unique flavor.

What is the shelf life of Sparkling Drink Mix?

Typically, your Sparkling Drink Mix will arrive with 3-4 months prior to the "best before" date printed on the back of the label. Sparkling Drink Mix is at peak drinkability before this date. When tightly closed, store Sparkling Drink Mix in a cool, dry place. If purchased from the Outlet Page on our website at a discounted price, the sparkling drink mixes will be approaching the best buy date as specified on the Outlet Page. Please contact SodaStream Customer Support at info@sodastreamsupport.com or 1-800-763-2258 with any questions or concerns regarding Sparkling Drink Mix expiration dates.

How much Sparkling Drink Mix should I add to a bottle?

One of the best features of making flavored sparkling water at home is that you can control the level of flavor. In general, use a capful of Sparkling Drink Mix for each liter of sparkling water. If you like it sweeter, add more! If you like it less sweet, use less.

How long does the sparkling water last before going flat?

The hermetic seal on the cap keeps your sparkling water or flavored sparkling water from going flat as quickly as ordinary store-bought beverages. If you make sure to close the cap tightly, and keep the bottle in the refrigerator, your SodaStream sparkling water should remain fizzy and fresh for up to two weeks.

Should I refrigerate Sparkling Drink Mix?

Unopened bottles of Sparkling Drink Mix do not require refrigeration, but we do recommend that you store unopened bottles in a cool dry place. For the coldest soda, we recommend storing opened bottles of Sparkling Drink Mix in the refrigerator. All-natural flavors - like Sparkling Naturals, and MyWater Flavor Essences - should be refrigerated after opening, as specified on the bottle.

Do you have any caffeine-free flavors?

Yes! We have many flavors that are caffeine free. Our nutrition chart shows caffeine levels for each flavor.

How do you sweeten your regular flavors?

SodaStream regular Sparkling Drink Mix flavors contain sugar, sucralose and acesulfame potassium. Sparkling Natural flavors are sweetened exclusively with sugar. If you have dietary concerns, please read the label of every SodaStream product before purchasing, available by clicking the Sparkling Drink Mix images on the product page of this website. When in doubt, consult with your physician.

How do you sweeten your diet flavors?

SodaStream diet flavors are sweetened with a blend of acesulfame potassium and sucralose or Stevia extract. SodaStream flavors contain no aspartame. If you have dietary concerns, please read the label of every SodaStream product before purchasing, available by clicking the Sparkling Drink Mix images on the product page of this website. When in doubt, consult with your physician.

I like very fizzy sparkling water. Can I make this with a SodaStream Sparkling Water Maker?

One of the best benefits of making sparkling water at home with a SodaStream Sparkling Water Maker is that you control the fizziness of your drinks. When you're making sparkling water: If you like very light carbonation, press the carbonating button until you hear just a single loud buzz. If you like heavy carbonation, keep going until you hear 5 buzzes. The amount of fizz your sparkling water can hold is limited only by the laws of chemistry - after about 10 buzzes, you won't be able to inject any more fizz into the water.

I like lightly flavored sparkling water. Can I make this with a SodaStream Sparkling Water Maker?

Yes! MyWater flavorings are all-natural, unsweetened flavor essences for making flavored sparkling water. Or, for sweetened flavors, try using a quarter-capful of any of our Sparkling Drink Mix flavors in each liter of sparkling water for a very lightly flavored drink. (Fruit flavors work best.) Or try using fresh lemons, limes, oranges or berries to flavor your drink. Sophisticated, healthful and quite tasty!

Are your products kosher?

Also, please note that all Sparkling Water Makers except for Revolution, Power, Fizz and Source can be used on the Sabbath. What are SodaStream Caps?

SodaStream Caps are SodaStream's new patented flavoring system that takes sparkling water flavoring to the next level. SodaStream Caps are single-serve, recyclable capsules that deliver a simple, fun and user-friendly experience with lifestyle appeal. One SodaStream Cap will flavor one 1 Liter SodaStream carbonating bottle in an instant, resulting in a consistently flavored sparkling beverage each time.

Will SodaStream Caps work with all carbonating bottles?

SodaStream Caps are compatible with 1 Liter carbonating bottles only. SodaStream Caps are not compatible with 0.5 Liter bottles or Glass Carafes.

Why does the carbonating bottle have an expiration date?

Since plastic degrades over time and the bottle has to withstand recurring pressure from carbonation, it cannot be used forever. The expiration date on the bottle must be checked and new bottles purchased as soon as the former expires. The bottles must also be replaced if put in the dishwasher, exposed to a heat source, or if they have become scratched. All components of carbonating bottles except for the seal inside the cap are recyclable. Check with your local recycling authority for more information.

How do I clean my carbonating bottles?

Carbonating bottles may be cleaned in warm water with a bottle brush and regular dish-washing liquid if necessary. Be sure not to use hot water when washing your carbonating bottles. You may also use an anti-bacterial dish-washing liquid for extra disinfecting. Please do not place carbonating bottles in the dishwasher, as exposure to extreme heat can weaken the integrity of the bottles, unless you have the Dishwasher Safe bottle indicated by its 'Dishwasher Safe' markings on the bottle. Bottles stay cleanest when immediately filled with fresh water and returned to your refrigerator. Plus, you'll always have cold water on hand when you're ready for your next bottle of sparkling water!

Can I use a different kind of carbonating bottle?

Only SodaStream carbonating bottles are recommended for use with your Sparkling Water Maker. Damages caused by, or during the use of, non-SodaStream carbonating bottles or carbonators will not be covered by your warranty. SodaStream will not be responsible any damage caused to products made by another company.

I lost my carbonating bottle caps. Can I get replacements or use another one that fits?

Yes, we sell carbonating bottle cap replacements on our website.

Can I use 0.5 Liter carbonating bottles with my Sparkling Water Maker?

There are two different types of 0.5 Liter SodaStream Carbonating Bottles and each type is compatible with different Sparkling Water Makers.

0.5 Liter carbonating bottles are compatible with Fountain Jet, Genesis, Dynamo Deluxe, Pure and Fizz Sparkling Water Makers. 0.5 Liter carbonating bottles are not compatible with Crystal, Penguin, Source, Play, Power or Revolution Sparkling Water Makers.

Source™ 0.5 liter bottles are compatible with all Sparkling Water Makers except for the Crystal and Penguin. You can identify a Source carbonating bottle by the name ‘Source’ on the front of the bottle.

What is the difference between Source™ carbonating bottles and the other SodaStream carbonating bottles?

The 1 Liter Source™ carbonating bottles are only compatible with Splash Play, Source and Power Sparkling Water Makers. The 0.5 Liter Source™ carbonating bottles are compatible with all sparkling water makers except the Crystal and the Penguin. How do I know if the carbonator is empty?

There are a number of indications that show your carbonator is empty:

  • When you press the carbonating button you will not see any gas going into your bottle of water
  • Even after repeated presses you don't reach the 'buzzing' sound
  • The carbonating button may stay down
  • The carbonator splutters, showing you have run out of CO2

Please note: SodaStream recommends that you keep a spare carbonator in the cupboard so that when one carbonator runs out, you simply swap the empty carbonator for the full one. That way, you'll keep enjoying fresh, fizzy drinks and can return the empty carbonator as you order your next gas refill.

If you still have questions, contact SodaStream Customer Support at info@sodastreamsupport.com or 1-800-763-2258.

What do I do when my carbonator is empty?

When your carbonator runs out of CO2, you need an EXCHANGE carbonator. Bring your empty carbonator to any participating retailer, and exchange it for a full one for the price of the gas contents only. To find a participating retailer near you, visit our Where To Buy page. If you have any questions, you may also contact SodaStream Customer Support at info@sodastreamsupport.com or 1-800-763-2258.

How do I exchange my empty carbonator?

SodaStream offers a convenient way to exchange your carbonators: Bring your empty carbonator(s) to any participating retail location. To find a participating retailer near you, visit our Where To Buy page. They will swap your empty for a full one on the spot, for the price of the gas contents only. For more information about exchanging carbonators, click here!

Can I refill my own carbonator or have it refilled locally?

No, SodaStream strongly advises against this. SodaStream licensed carbonators are filled with beverage-grade CO2 in compliance with exacting FDA standards for food and beverage safety. Your local filling station may not be in compliance with these standards and could possibly introduce toxins into your CO2. Furthermore, unauthorized filling machines may cause damage to the carbonator. Damaged carbonators will not be accepted for return by SodaStream. Any gas filling by parties other than SodaStream authorized filling stations violates the User License.

Can a different company's carbonator be used?

No, SodaStream provides a guarantee only for its own products. We are not responsible for the products of any other company, which may damage the Sparkling Water Maker. Only SodaStream carbonators carrying identification and a nylon shrink wrap bearing the SodaStream (or Soda-Club) brand name should be used.

How often will I have to replace my carbonator?

On average, the carbonator will make up to 60 or 130 liters of sparkling water, depending on the size you have. This number could be more or less depending on the amount of carbonation used when making your drink.

How should the carbonator be stored?

The carbonator contains compressed carbon dioxide (CO2.) Compressed gas has a tendency to expand when it is exposed to a source of heat for prolonged periods of time. Therefore, the carbonator must not be exposed to sources of heat (such as travel in the trunk of a car) or placed right next a heat source such as an oven, stove or fireplace. It is important to always store the carbonator unit in a cool and dry environment. Every carbonator is fitted with a unique safety valve which will safely release the gas in the unlikely event the pressure in the carbonator rises.

What is the shelf life of the carbonator?

The carbonator has no expiration date. As long as your carbonator is stored in a temperate environment, your CO2 will remain fresh and usable indefinitely, with no concern of spoilage.

Is it safe to have a carbonator in my home or kitchen?

Absolutely. SodaStream carbonators are manufactured to exacting specifications that include many unique safety features to protect consumers. Carbonators are safe at virtually any altitude (our customers in the Swiss Alps can attest to that!) and are specially equipped with a safety valve that will harmlessly release the gas in the unlikely event that the pressure within the carbonator rises above threshold levels. Please do not expose your carbonator to extreme heat (such as travel in the trunk of a car, or right next to an oven, stove or fireplace.) Please see above for more information on carbonator safety.

Can I take my carbonator on the plane?

SodaStream advises against carrying carbonators on an airplane. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has restrictions that prohibit compressed gas cylinders in carry-on items as well as in checked baggage.

Can I exchange my 60L carbonator for a 130L carbonator?

As long as your Sparkling Water Maker model is compatible with the extra-large 130L carbonator, you may exchange an empty 60L carbonator for a full 130L carbonator, and vice versa. The following Sparkling Water Makers are compatible with both carbonator sizes: Play, Fountain Jet, Dynamo, Design, Edition 1, Fizz, Revolution.

What is the difference between a spare carbonator and an exchange carbonator?

Exchange carbonators can be purchased for the price of gas only when you return an empty carbonator at a participating retailer. To find a participating retailer in your area visit our Where To Buy page.

Spare carbonators can purchased for the price of gas and the user license without the return of an empty carbonator. Keep a spare so you always have a carbonator ready to pop into your Sparkling Water Maker while you exchange your empty carbonators.

I made sparkling water and it made a fizzy mess all over my counter. Why?

Make sure your carbonating bottle is filled just to the "Water Fill Line" indicator. Other possible causes for overflow:

  • Trying to carbonate a liquid other than water
  • Adding Sparkling Drink Mix to the bottle before attempting to carbonate
  • Not tilting the carbonating bottle when adding Sparkling Drink Mix flavoring

If you still have trouble with overflow after checking these tips, please contact SodaStream Customer Support at info@sodastreamsupport.com or 1-800-763-2258 for advanced troubleshooting!

I hear gas escaping from the carbonator. What should I do?

If the carbonator is leaking while the Sparkling Water Maker is not in use, contact SodaStream Customer Support at info@sodastreamsupport.com or 1-800-763-2258 for assistance.

Please note: Keep a spare so you always have a carbonator ready to pop into your Sparkling Water Maker while you exchange your empty carbonators.

If you still have questions, contact SodaStream Customer Support at info@sodastreamsupport.com or 1-800-763-2258.

I press the carbonating button on my Sparkling Water Maker and nothing happens.

Usually this is a sign that there may be two sealer washers in the carbonating gasket head. The sealer washer is a small, black, O-shaped ring about 1/2" in diameter. To try and correct this problem, first remove the carbonator cover in back of the Sparkling Water Maker. Unscrew the carbonator from the fitting and lift the Sparkling Water Maker so you can see inside the gasket head. Using tweezers or a small screwdriver, attempt to remove the black rubber washer from the head. If there is a second one underneath it, you've just solved your problem! If not, please replace the washer in its original position and contact SodaStream Customer Support at info@sodastreamsupport.com or 1-800-763-2258.

My sparkling water or flavored sparkling water is not fizzy enough.

Flat sparkling water may indicate that you have not carbonated properly. After inserting the carbonating bottle per the instruction manual that came with your Sparkling Water Maker, press the carbonating button ALL THE WAY DOWN in firm short bursts. You will hear a hissing sound at first. Continue to press the button in firm short bursts until you hear a LOUD BUZZ or WHISTLE. The loud buzz indicates the first level of carbonation. Three loud buzzes will achieve average carbonation.

If your sparkling water still isn’t fizzy enough, you may need to replace your carbonator. Please see above for more information.

Another tip: Make sure you use very cold water for carbonation. Cold water (from the refrigerator) holds carbonation much better than cold water from the tap. We recommend keeping carbonating bottles full of water in your refrigerator so they are always ready to go when you want a fresh sparkling water!

My flavored sparkling water is not flavorful enough.

The SodaStream system is designed to allow users to choose how sweet and fizzy they want their drinks. If you have used the recommended amount of Sparkling Drink MIx in your drink, try adding a little more until you find the level of flavor you like best.

Try a full cap of Sparkling Drink Mix -- or more -- if you like a stronger or sweeter flavor Shake well after adding Sparkling Drink Mix to ensure that the syrup mixes completely with the carbonated water.
