Based on feedback from the United States Department of Transportation (DOT), SodaStream will no longer offer exchange carbonators online, effective February 1. DOT regulations prevents UPS or FedEx from accepting used carbonators from residential customers and customers can no longer bring used carbonators to a UPS or FedEx store or drop-off location for return to SodaStream. We continue to work collaboratively with the DOT, UPS and FedEx to evaluate alternative solutions for residential returns and will provide an update on any developments as soon as they become available.

Exchange: Exchange your empty carbonator for a full one. All 60 liter carbonators are inter-changeable. For example, you may return an Alco2Jet 60 and receive a Sodastream 14.5 ounce carbonator in exchange.

Ordering exchange carbonators requires that you have an equal number of empty carbonators to return to SodaStream. Return shipping for your empty carbonators is FREE as long as you follow the email instructions sent to you when you place your order for exchange carbonators.
Failure to promptly return an equal amount of empty carbonators for the number of exchange carbonators you ordered may result in the reclassification of your carbonator(s) to spare (licensed) carbonator(s). Order an exchange carbonator when you have empties to return. SodaStream exchanges your empty one for a full one -- get it? SodaStream expects you to return an empty carbonator for every full exchange carbonator we deliver. Order a spare carbonator when you want to have more carbonators on hand. Keep a spare in the cupboard so you always have a carbonator ready to pop into your machine while you exchange your empties. Spare carbonators include a user license in the box.
SodaStream requires a minimum order of two carbonators (any combination of spares and/or exchanges) to participate in our home delivery program. We recommend having a total of three carbonators on hand, so you can exchange two via home delivery service, and still have one in your machine for making fresh, fizzy sparkling water and soda.
